A cozy cabin on the water, surrounded by silent pines interrupt
This cabin in the woods is a throwback to another simply time, yet the kitchen had all the comforts for a modern chef. Location was prime: quiet Maine forest surrounding the property and view of the water from anywhere in the cabin. Outdoor picnic table, firepit and deck was perfect when all the kids arrived. Canoe & kayaks were in good shape, light and easy to use. The extra separate room off garage was clean and cozy but needed its own bathroom/sink. We like to swim so the shallow pond was the only drawback. Definitely would recommend to family with kids (not teenagers---too far from town).
Great location
This camp worked out well for my group of 4. It is in a good location for easy access to trout fishing streams and lakes. It is also located on a nice small pond which provides good ambience. We enjoyed relaxing in the interior as well as the fire pit at night.
A little slice of Heaven on Earth!
From the moment I drove down the private driveway surrounded by a wall of trees...I knew I had a winner here! Hackney is surrounded on three sides by a dense tree line with the fourth side being Quimby pond. The sun sets every evening over Quimby creating spectacular skylines with many mountains. The camp itself, warm, inviting...a great kitchen, dining area and two different nooks full of books and games.Very comfortable sleeping! There is a firepit outside for roasting smore's and a charcoal grill.
We enjoyed day trips around Rangely and Oquossoc including a drive up Quill Hill. Forks in the Air Bistro has become a favorite dining spot. The ladies at the agency..Melinda,Sara and Beth were a pleasure to communicate with and made it clear that whatever we call them. We loved it so much we extended our stay by 2 days! While I wish the sale of this camp for the owners, my selfish side wants it to be there for next time. Thank you for a memorable stay, Hackeny!
Lovely private getaway
Hackney cabin has all the essentials for comfort while still making you feel close to nature. The sunset over Quimby Pond is magical, and the view is ever changing depending on the position of the sun and the weather. The cabin itself is very comfortable and the kitchen is well supplied with cooking utensils and cookware. The fact that our dogs were welcome makes it even better. Boating and reading in the hammock were my favorite things.
Good Afternoon, What aFantastic Vacation. This was Our Second Time to this Property and it Keeps Getting Better each and Every Time. In fact, We look Forward to Returning Sooner than Later.. Thanks Again
Hackney Stay was great!
Had a great time on the two nights I stayed! Everyone I was with had a great time and we really enjoyed the old cabin feel to the place. :)
Peaceful, serene setting
We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. The loons didn't disappoint. There was a mother and baby we were able to watch at least twice a day and we looked forward to the calls at night and in the morning. We also saw a Bald Eagle!! The canoeing in this pond was so wonderful for watching both! The cabin was more than charming and the kitchen well stocked. The only improvement I would make is wifi or internet. While it is a good thing to disconnect, it is sometimes needed in certain situations.
Josh And Cindy
We have stayed every year for 6 years! The sunsets, wildlife and the quiet secluded location are amazing. So much outdoor stuff to see and do in the area. Plan on coming back for many years to come!
